Saka Jumps Ship: Dumps Etisalat For MTN Over N20m Deal

Comic actor, Hafiz Oyetoro popularly called Saka has made headlines recently. A popular face on television home movies, drama series and sitcoms, to his humorous advert campaigns for telecommunications company Etisalat, Saka is fast proving himself fierce in the nations entertainment industry.

He recently shocked most of the subscribers of Etisalat when he shifted base and dumped Etisalat for rival telecoms giant MTN. Saka literally danced his heart out on the MTN ad campaign announcing the recently activated Number Portability Scheme (an initiative that enables a subscriber switch from one mobile network to the other without loosing his previous number).

The ad starts off with Saka dressed in green traditional attire only to transform into a bright yellow attire as he leads a music band.

''I don port o, I don port go MTN, I don upgrade to MTN'', Saka sings and dances like he just won a lottery. Well didn't he? Our source gathered that he was paid a whooping N20m to seal the deal. If na you nko?

Nigerian Lady Opts For Suicide To Avoid Deportation From The UK

 

According to the UK Daily Mail, a 19 year old Nigerian named May Brown attempted to take her life by overdosing on prescription drugs.

May claims to have fled to the UK three years ago after witnessing her father's murder and being subjected to sexual abuse herself. She settled in Dorset where she met and married Michael Brown in December 2012. She now applied to stay in the UK and her application was rejected by the UK Border Agency Officials who believed her marriage was a sham.
When she got notification of her due date of deportation which is today 25th April, she went kukus and decided to end it all. Meaning she would rather DIE than touch down on naija soil. Hmmmmmmmmm...Okay now!

She was found collapsed on the bathroom floor with a suicide note she had written.                       May wrote: 'I am deeply sorry that I had to go this way, without even saying goodbye. The UK immigration has finally driven me insane. They've pushed me too far this time and I can't take the pain any more. I don't want a life or a future you won't be part of. I love you so much, more than life itself and can't endure the agony of not being with you. Please forgive me for ending it this way. It's better to die with my dignity than be subjected to torture and undignified death back in Nigeria.' WHAO... So much for love and a didnified death  by suicidal means.

With the premiere of the eighth season of Big Brother Africa on our doorstep, the show’s enduring popularity remains.

The voyeuristic glee, controversy and endless drama that has reeled in scores of followers, has even more fans desperately waiting for the 26 May launch date.

We take a look at some of the most interesting facts and figures from the past seven seasons.

The show has featured a total of 136 contestants plus two international participants. In the first season of the show Gaetano Kagwa swopped places with Big Brother UK contestant Cameron Stout while Munyaradzi "Munya" Chidzonga swapped spots with Finnish player, Johan Grahn in the third season.

Over the years, 65 male and 71 female contestants have vied for the cash prize.

Of the eight winners, six were male while only 2 were female, Cherise Makubale from Season 1 and Karen Igho from Amplified (S6) who shared the title with Zimbabwe’s Wendall Robert Parson.

27 seems like the lucky number in this game, as three of the winners were 27-years-old when they won. They were Big Brother Africa Revolution contestant, Kevin Chuwang Pam, (S4); Uti Nwachukwu took the All-Stars title (S5); Karen Igho, was a joint winner of Big Brother Africa Amplified (S6).

This, incidentally also makes them the most senior of all the winners so far.

Ricardo "Rico" Venancio, who won the third season of Big Brother Africa, is the youngest of the winners at 21 when he won in 2008.

Premiering for the first time to audiences across the continent on 25 May 2003, Big Brother Africa Season 1 was the longest running season lasting 106 interminable days.

The then 24-year-old Zambian Cherise Makubale became Big Brother Africa’s first ever winner. While singer and model, Bruna Estivão, reserves the honour of being the first ever evictee.

LADY RAPED AND BURIED ALIVE IN BONNY

This is the pitiable remains of a lady gang raped by some men in Bonny Island in Rivers state, Nigeria. This event actually took place in 2012, where some men, after raping the lady tied her hands and legs before burying her alive. 12 hours after she was buried, the Nigerian army got wind of the incident. Unfortunately as at the time her body was being exumed, it was already too late, the lady was dead! Hmmmmmm.....what a wicked world we live in!

BOSTON BOMBING SUSPECT CAPTURED

Dzhorkhar Tsarnaev, the 19 year old Boston bombing suspect was captured alive friday night. Dzhorkhar previously escaped an overnight shootout with the police which left his older brother Tarmerlan Tsarnaev dead. Currently receiving treatment at the hospital and awaiting what comes next, one of the biggest manhunts in recent US history comes to an end.
The learning point here is, it took just five days from the bombing to lockdown and eventual capture to take place. Oh! my good people of naija, when are we going to get there?
